Port Burwell, Ont. – HMCS Ojibwa Submarine

Riggs Engineering was hired by the Elgin Military Museum to assist on the marine engineering components of the project that brought HMCS Ojibwa, a cold war submarine to Port Burwell, Ontario. Our tasks included ensuring that the harbour bottom was dredged to sufficient grades and the design of the shore transfer dock.


Timiskaming Dam Complex – Rehabilitation

Riggs Engineering was retained by Nor Eng Engineering and Construction Inc. to provide civil and structural engineering services for repairs to the Timiskaming Dam Complex. Repairs to piers, sluices, and new automated stop log lift assemblies were completed.


Point Pelee National Park - Floating Boardwalk

The marsh boardwalk at Point Pelee National Park is a ±1 km long loop which spans across open ponds and among cattails. The boardwalk winds through the wetlands and offers a chance to see the red-winged blackbirds, turtles, ducks and herons.


Hamilton, Ont. - Pier 22

On behalf of the Hamilton Port Authority, Riggs Engineering undertook the detailed design of Pier 22, a commercial berthing facility located in Hamilton, Ontario. Our tasks included marine structural design, dredging and containment, and supervision of the construction works.


Toronto, Ont. - Spadina Simcoe Wavedeck

Riggs Engineering was engaged by Somerville Construction to provide an alternative design for the new Spadina wavedeck. The contract showed custom support beams made from hollow structural steel sections that varied in depth, but the original design was too costly.


Batchawana, Ont. - New Wharf Construction

Riggs Engineering was retained by Small Craft Harbours to redesign and supervise the reconstruction of both the outer and inner legs of the Batchawana Bay wharf. This structure is on the shoreline of Lake Superior at Batchawana Bay, approximately 72km north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
